Two years ago my best friend a I decided to write a three dimensional space strategy game, for DOS, that would fit on a single disk. Unfortunately, we never finished the game. There were many reasons for this. Windows was completely taking over, and we thought, soon, people wouldn't even be able to play our game. It turned out this wasn't quite right. However, the biggest reason we quit was that we didn't have enough time to finish it. Our code wasn't object oriented enough, and a simple change took hours.

Recently, I got around to installing the linux OS. It's everything one could want in an operating system. We all know the story behind linux. A bunch of hackers got together and wrote an OS. So what would convince people to install linux? Games. Let's face it, how many of us first started nagging our parents for a computer after we saw a computer game at a friend's house? I think us hackers can make far better video games then the corporate programmers. Just like we make far better OS's. When people see our free games for our free operating system they'll start installing linux too. It's time to form a game programming group!

Incidently, I posted my partially finished space game years ago on the web. It's still here if you're interested.

Also, click here to check out the skeleton of some header files I'm writing. They're based on robot control code I'm using in lab. I think they will make our code extremely object oriented and very easy to work with.
